Imagine a place where your day begins with a breathtaking sunrise and where your most important decision is which golf course to play, what time to schedule your tennis match, or whether you should walk or bike ride along the edge of a desert of unmatched beauty. Such a day is yours in Tonto Verde.
The Community
Those who reside, rent, or simply visit easily feel at home in Tonto Verde’s desert habitat. They enjoy the abundance of wildlife occasionally meandering across its fairways and along the desert’s edges. Coyotes, javelinas, bobcats, and an occasional mule deer straying out of the forest serve as nature’s reminders of this very special place. At our nearby ranch along the shore of the Verde River, equestrian trails and greenbelt riparian areas abound for those seeking peace and tranquility.
Golf
With two different and challenging 18-hole championship golf courses and spectacular views, Tonto Verde is a desert gem acclaimed by national recognition for its charm and playability. Renowned golf course architects David Graham and Gary Panks chose to keep the natural contours of the land as they designed the 6,744-yard Peaks course. The newer Panks-designed Ranch course stretches out to 6,988 yards and has hosted a number of professional and amateur events since opening for play in 2002. While both courses are desert, or target golf layouts, the architects took special care to ensure that golf would be enjoyable no matter what the skill level of the golfer. The Peaks course layout is shorter in length and narrower off of the tee than the Ranch course, but still provides an enjoyable test for any golfer. The Ranch course will take on the big hitters with its length and challenge your short game with large, well-bunkered and sloping greens. Rounding out Tonto’s distinctive golfing attractions is a uniquely designed 18-hole putting course for the enjoyment of all residents and guests.
